Israel Trip Education

Please let Danielle know if you have any questions or are interested in joining either or both of these programs.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston's Israel Teen Ambassadors empowers high school students currently in 10th-12th grade to be knowledgeable about Israel and to champion a strong U.S. – Israel relationship. This program provides participants with the tools necessary to engage with Israel in the realms of politics, culture, arts, science and more.

All sessions will be online, with three of the sessions being required for all Israel Trip participants to attend (see bolded dates below):

October 18th           1 – 3 pm              My Israel Story and Values in Tension
November 15th      1 – 4 pm              Framing the meaning of Israel and its relevance to me
December 13th      1 – 3 pm              An Indigenous Nation Returns Home
January 10th            1 – 4 pm             The Modern Megillah: A Fresh Look at Israel’s Israeli Declaration of Independence
February 14th                                          Yom Limmud
February 28th         1 – 3 pm               The Global Refugee Crisis and Israel
March 21st               1 – 4 pm               TBD
April 25th                  1 – 3 pm               TBD
May 23rd                   1 – 3 pm               Cooking Demonstration

In addition, another optional opportunity is the IMPACT Israel Fellowship. We piloted this new initiative here in the Houston Jewish community this past summer and are looking forward to continuing it into the school year. This is for students who want to engage with multiple perspectives and challenge questions of identity in order to lead communal discourse about Israel as a value, idea, and modern nation-state of the Jewish people. In addition to those who participated over the summer, the fellowship is open to all Israel trip participants.

All meetings will take place on Sunday afternoons from 1:30-3 pm.
