Danielle Alexander - Director
Danielle was raised outside of Philadelphia, but is a traveler at heart. She has spent significant time in California, Colorado, New York City, and Washington DC. She has her Master’s in Jewish Education with a focus in experiential and informal education from The Jewish Theological Seminary. This past summer, she received a Certificate in Jewish Organizational Leadership from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
Danielle is so excited to begin her fourth year in Houston as the Director of Kehillah High. She spent over three years at the Jewish Federation of Greater Stamford where she served as the PJ Library Director, Assistant Director and subsequently Director of Kulanu, a supplemental Jewish Community High School, and with young Jewish professionals. She worked diligently to engage all these populations in Jewish education and community experiences. She moved to Houston from the Washington DC area, where she was working at a Reform Congregation in their Early Childhood program. She loves engaging learners of all ages in both formal and informal Jewish conversations.
While working with teens in Stamford, Danielle learned the importance of creating new opportunities in the Jewish community by collaborating with other existing youth programs. This is extremely important in order to further the understanding and meaning of community. She developed and facilitated teen philanthropy and Israel advocacy programs because of the need and desire of teens in the community. One of the highlights for Danielle and the teens was traveling to AIPAC Policy Conference and on the March of the Living.
As a product of congregational education, youth group, and camp, and as a former teacher and youth professional in the community, she understands the challenges and triumphs of creating these experiences. She believes that this is an exciting, pivotal time for Houston congregations; new models are strengthening the field and there are new ideas about what learning can look like. Danielle feels motivated and honored to be a part of that work.
Danielle would love to hear from you!
